Latest news from The Picnic Boat

Winter 2016/17

And so as we move in to Spring and to our new home at Dart Marina. We’ve just so many wonderful times to look back on from a really fantastic year of Picnic Boat cruises. This year the weather played its part in a great Summer. We’ve been delighted to play host to marriage proposals, wedding breakfasts, special anniversaries, birthday parties, family get togethers, and wonderful atmospheric celebrations of life, and welcomed many returning guests to enjoy our exclusive Picnic Cruises. From talented classical guitarists to the finest naval tunes and voices, to Lady Ga Ga - the music on board really has crossed all genres. It’s a truly great buzz for us serving our wonderful seafood, fantastic locally produced meats and cheeses and of course our ever popular home-made breads - there is something for everyone to enjoy from the menu on board.

We’ve watched as the River Dart has changed throughout the year, and we’ve enjoyed seeing lots of seals – our first glimpse of Dartmouth’s Danny the Dolphin, and the landscape of the river banks this year sadly change as beautiful trees on the riverbank were lost to the river as their rain soaked foundations could hold them in place no longer.

So now with just a handful of cruising days left before the much loved Picnic Boat takes a well earned break and is lifted out to her winter quarters. We’ll get cracking with her annual maintenance and renewal programme, as well as lots of recipe testing in The Picnic Boat kitchen, and we’ll be busy refreshing all our literature, and the website, ready for her season to being again in early March.

Thank you to all who joined us on board in 2016, we are so grateful for your support, and with bookings rolling in we can’t wait to meet all those who will be our guests on board The Picnic Boat in 2017.

As always we look forward to welcoming you all on board.
